«2017 was a year of major accomplishments – all of which would have been impossible without all of the amazing support we received throughout the year.

4Ocean officially launched in January 2017 when we sold our first bracelet and removed the first pound of trash from the ocean. Since that first pound, more and more people learned about our company, our cleanup efforts, our mission and were eager to join the movement towards cleaner oceans. Since our official launch just 1 year ago, we have been able to remove over 250,000 pounds of trash from the ocean.

Some of the accomplishments we were able to reach because of your support included:

    – Our largest underwater cleanups to date in June 2017
    – Acquiring 7 full time captains and cleanup crew members to do daily cleanups
    – Breaking a World Record for the largest underwater chain of divers (followed by a dive cleanup!)
    – Donating to The Bimini Shark Lab, Shark Savers, and Sharks4Kids for shark conservation programs and research
    – Hosting and sponsoring cleanups in 14 different countries around the world
    – Donating $50,000 to the Moffitt Cancer Center for Breast Cancer Research
    – Removing 250,000 pounds of marine debris from the ocean
    …and much more!

We decided to celebrate these milestones and more by giving our supporters a way to help make a difference not just once, but all year long.

What better way to celebrate a year of cleaner oceans than with a limited edition bracelet: the 4Ocean Anniversary Bracelet. This limited edition bracelet features a cord intertwined with our two branded colors, Royal Blue and White, and is a reminder to everyone who wears it that because of them, the oceans are becoming a cleaner place for marine life, one pound at a time.»

«Today, the health of our oceans is being threatened from all sides. Whether it is water pollution, global climate change or ocean acidification, the issues simply can no longer be ignored. In addition, tons of trash enter the ocean everyday choking our fragile ecosystems including one of the most important; the coral reef. The organisms that used to thrive on these reefs are showing signs that the cumulative effects of this man-made assault are now having a significant effect on their very existence. That is why 4Ocean cleanups are so important, to help keep our coral reefs from suffocating under this debris.

Coral reefs support the highest marine biodiversity in our oceans and they are home to more than 25% of all marine life. About one-quarter of coral reefs worldwide are already considered to be damaged beyond repair. Massive coral bleaching events have been occurring more often worldwide and the frequency with which these events are occurring has a devastating and prolonged effect on the reefs. Just recently the largest reef in the world, the Great Barrier Reef, experienced this type of event and as much as 22% of the reef had significant coral mortality. Coral reefs are found in 109 countries around the world and in 93 of those countries, they have seen significant degradation in the last few decades, making this a truly global problem.

To make a difference, we have partnered with the Coral Restoration Foundation to do what we can to create a more sustainable future for coral reefs. This organization is on the front lines in the effort to understand the complex issues related to coral reef degradation and they are creating solutions to help save and repopulate the world’s dying reef systems.

For the month of March, our 4Ocean Limited Edition Coral Reef Bracelet represents the struggle of coral reefs around the world and the steps we are taking to help save these threatened ecosystems. Not only will this bracelet remove one pound of trash from the ocean & coastlines, it will also help support the science-driven work of the Coral Restoration Foundation which grows critically endangered corals and outplants them back into the wild – actively restoring reefs to a healthy state in Florida and beyond.

Purchase and proudly wear your Limited Edition Coral Reef Bracelet and spread the word so that we can all take responsibility toward a more sustainable future for our oceans and coral reefs! You can help make even more of a difference by thinking about your lifestyle and opportunities to reduce, reuse and recycle the things that are causing these problems in the first place. This bracelet represents your support.»

«By purchasing this Earth Day blue and green bracelet, you will remove one pound (half a kilo) of trash from the ocean and coastlines, as well as support to fund scientific research, the growing of coral colonies and the out-planting of new corals onto reefs through the Coral Restoration Foundation programs.»

«Every single minute the equivalent of one dump truck full of plastic enters the ocean! That is more than 8 million tons annually and there is no sign that number is going to slow down any time soon. By 2050, it is estimated that there will be more pieces of plastic in the ocean than fish! That is a very scary thought to us here at 4Ocean, so we have made it our mission to help stem this tide of pollution by removing plastic, trash and debris from the ocean and coastlines every single day.

For the month of April, to help increase the size of our impact globally, we have partnered with the Earth Day Network to raise awareness of this growing problem and to help combat the issue first hand through our cleanups. The Earth Day Network is responsible for coordinating the observance of Earth Day in over 192 countries around the world and spearheads many amazing campaigns throughout the year to promote, diversify, educate and activate the environmental movement worldwide.

Not only will we be removing plastic from the ocean in support of Earth Day Network’s End Plastic Pollution campaign for Earth Day 2018, we are also supporting their Canopy Project which has the overall goal of planting 7.8 billion trees by the year 2020 to help combat the worst effects of global climate change. This goal coincides with the 50th Anniversary of Earth Day and represents one tree planted for every person on the planet! So, for each Limited Edition Earth Day Bracelet we sell, not only will we remove one pound of trash from the ocean, but we will also support the planting of trees as part of the Canopy Project.

Purchase and proudly wear your Limited Edition Earth Day Bracelet and spread the word so that we can all take responsibility toward a more sustainable future for the ocean and our planet! You can help make even more of a difference by thinking about your lifestyle and taking the opportunity to reduce, reuse and recycle wherever you can. This bracelet represents your support.»

«Every year, millions of pounds of plastic and trash enter the ocean creating a dangerous and even deadly environment for some of the world’s largest and most endangered creatures; the whales. At 4Ocean, we are on a mission to help stop this from happening. That is why we are on the water 7 days a week removing plastic, trash and debris from the ocean and coastlines.

Ocean plastic is a huge danger to whales because they can easily become entangled in it causing bodily harm or they may even eat it, mistaking it for food. In both cases, it can become fatal. So, for the month of May, we have partnered with Whale and Dolphin Conservation to raise global awareness of this growing problem and to help combat the issue first hand through our cleanups.

Every Whale bracelet sold removes one pound of trash from the ocean and coastlines with the hope being that we can remove these dangerous items before they ever make it into whale habitat. This in turn helps to further the WDC’s mission of campaigning, conservation and education efforts around the world to keep whales safe and free.

Purchase and proudly wear your Limited Edition Whale Bracelet and spread the word so that we can all take responsibility toward a more sustainable future for the planet and for whales! You can help make even more of a difference by thinking about your lifestyle and taking the opportunity to reduce, reuse and recycle wherever you can.

«Every year, more and more plastic and trash enter the ocean, threatening the lives of the animals that call it home. Sea turtles, who happen to be some of the most beloved and endangered species on the planet, are particularly at risk from this onslaught of ocean debris. At 4Ocean, we are on a mission to help stop this from happening. That is why we are on the water 7 days a week removing plastic, trash, and debris from the ocean and coastlines.

It is estimated that over half of all sea turtles have ingested some form of plastic in their lifetime. When debris, like plastic bags, are in the water where turtles feed, the turtles can easily mistake the trash for food. And for those that do avoid a plastic lunch, they are still at significant risk of becoming entangled in other forms of debris like ghost nets, buoy lines, or other discarded fishing gear, which can lead to injury or even death.

Another extremely worrisome trend is the fact that globally the ratio of female sea turtles being born vs. male sea turtles being born is becoming more and more lopsided to the female side. The sex of a turtle is determined by the nest temperature during incubation and when the nests are on the warmer side during development, the hatchlings will be all female. This could be related to rising temperatures caused by global climate change and is something that should be watched very carefully in the coming years.

For the month of June, we have partnered with the Florida Atlantic University® Marine Research Lab to raise global awareness about these and other issues facing sea turtles as well as to help combat the plastic debris problem first-hand through our cleanups.

Each Sea Turtle Bracelet sold removes one pound of trash from the ocean and coastlines so that dangerous items like plastic and marine debris never have a chance to make it into the open ocean where they might be encountered by sea turtles. In addition, every bracelet purchased also helps to further the Florida Atlantic University Marine Research Lab’s mission of moving sea turtle science forward by supporting the study and care of sea turtles prior to release in the wild.

Purchase and proudly wear your Limited Edition Sea Turtle Bracelet and spread the word so that we can all take responsibility toward a more sustainable future for our planet and for sea turtles! You can help make even more of a difference by thinking about your lifestyle and taking the opportunity to reduce, reuse and recycle wherever you can.

«Polar Bears are on the brink of becoming an endangered species, with them currently listed as Vulnerable on the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Red List. We have partnered with two amazing organizations to help restore polar bear’s natural habitat so that polar bears will have a promising future.

Polar Bears International (PBI) has been working for and studying polar bears since 1992 and are recognized as leaders in polar bear research, education, and conservation. The team at Polar Bears International know that knowledge is a catalyst for change. As leaders in polar bear research, they commit to using their scientific and technological resources to educate people around the world and inspire them to make lasting change. Their ongoing research inspires action, adds to our understanding of polar bears, and brings hope to people who believe it’s too late to make a difference. Some of their ongoing research projects include: population studies, maternal den studies, satellite and drone studies, sensory studies, cortisol studies, and SAR (Synthetic Aperture Radar).

PBI is based in Canada, where roughly 60% of the world’s population of polar bears live. Their vital research and work directly affects the current population in Canada where more than half the polar bear population calls home.

Carbonfund.org is helping to fight global warming by making it easy and affordable for any individual, business or organization to reduce & offset their climate impact and hasten the transition to a clean energy future. Carbonfund.org achieves its goals through: climate change education, carbon offsets and reductions, and public outreach.

A polar bear’s habitat range depends on two main factors: habitat quality and availability of sea ice. Loss of sea ice due to climate change poses the most serious threat to polar bears throughout their circumpolar range. Polar bears depend on sea ice to travel to hard-to-reach prey. Unlike most other carnivores, polar bears do not have territories because the sea ice is always moving and changing with the seasons.

Polar bears that have continuous access to frozen sea ice are able to successfully hunt throughout the year. However, in increasing areas where the sea ice melts completely each summer, these bears are forced to spend several months on land. When they are unable to hunt and receive the food they need to survive, they primarily fast on stored fat reserves until the sea ice freezes up again. Use of land by polar bears during the ice-free season appears to be increasing in some areas where sea ice duration has declined over the past few years. According to the IUCN, there is a great potential for large reductions in the global polar bear population if sea ice loss continues at the rate it is.

Introducing: The White Limited Edition Polar Bear Bracelet.

In addition to cleaning the oceans, we want to create a more sustainable future for marine life and our planet. Global warming and rising ocean temperatures is a serious threat to our marine life. The arctic continues to warm twice as fast as anywhere else on Earth. As a result, the polar bear’s habitat is being directly affected by these climate changes as ice caps continue to melt at an alarming rate. One of the main reasons for climate change is because of the depleting ozone layer, which increasingly gets worse as we emit more carbon into the atmosphere. We chose to donate to CarbonFund.org because they are working to offset the carbon footprint of individuals and businesses by planting trees and protecting rainforests across the globe. We chose PBI because of the current research, laws, and advancements they are putting into place to help threatened polar bears from becoming extinct.»
